At Tumaini Empowerment Centre (TEC), rehabilitation is the heart of our mission. We believe that every child, no matter their past, deserves a chance to heal and thrive. Many of our children come from difficult backgrounds — homelessness, street life, domestic violence, or loss of family. At Tumaini, we provide them with a safe and nurturing environment where they can rediscover stability, security, and love.
Our rehabilitation program focuses on emotional healing, behavioral transformation, and personal development. Through counseling, mentorship, and guided social activities, we help each child overcome trauma, rebuild trust, and regain self-worth. The Centre also ensures that children’s basic needs — food, shelter, clothing, and healthcare — are well provided for, enabling them to focus on their growth and recovery.

Life at Tumaini
At Tumaini, life is about hope restored, hearts healed, and futures rebuilt. The name “Tumaini,” meaning Hope in Swahili, perfectly reflects the spirit that fills every corner of the Centre. It is more than a shelter — it is a home, a family, and a place of transformation for children who once faced the harsh realities of life on the streets, domestic violence, displacement, and loss.
